Hiring activity in Chennai was 17% higher in April 15&rsquo over April 14&rsquo: Naukri Job Speak Index

  • Hiring of IT- Software professionals increased by 26% in April&rsquo15 over April&rsquo14.
  • The hiring activity in the Auto sector has maintained stability in April&rsquo15 over April&rsquo14.

Chennai, May 12,2015:
The Naukri Job Speak index for Chennai in April 15&rsquo was at 1500 as compared to 1287 in April 14, thus indicating a 17% increase in the hiring activity. Among the key sectors in the city, BPO/ITES showed a 2% dip in the hiring activity whereas Telecom registered a 2% growth over the same period.

Industry Sector Analysis:

Banking sector saw an increase of 75% in hiring activity in April -15&rsquo over April 14&rsquo. Other sectors like Pharma saw a 3% increase in their hiring activity over the same period. However, sectors like Construction and Engineering and Insurance saw a dip of 5% and 23% in the same period.

Functional Area Analysis:

Hiring of Project Management, and Production and Maintenance professionals saw a dip of 12% and 6% respectively in April 15&rsquo over April 14&rsquo. However a reverse trend was seen for the HR and Finance professionals where the numbers went up by 9% and 8% respectively over the same period.
