Pune records a growth of 17% in hiring in March&rsquo15 over March&rsquo14: Naukri Job Speak Index

  • The demand for ITprofessionals has shown a Y-o-Y growth of 31% in March&rsquo15, followed by Consulting, HR and Banking/ Insurance
  • Auto, Insurance and Construction and Engineering sectorsregistered a Y-o-Y decline in hiring activity March 2015

Pune, April XX,2015:
The Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of March 2015 for Pune was at 1997 indicating a 17% increase in the hiring activity in comparison to March 2014. Banking and Financial Services sectors remained steady and showed robust hiring activity in March&rsquo15. The March 2015 index reported thatprofessionals working in Export-Import / Merchandising industry saw an increase in the demand with the index moving up by 135% Y-o-Y. Construction and Engineering and Insurance sectors, however, saw a decline of 6% and 18%Y-o-Y respectively in their hiring activity over the same period.

Industry Sector Analysis:
A detailed analysis revealed that among the key sectors of the city, Accounting saw a Y-o-Y increase of 43% in hiring. Oil/Gas and Power sector too saw a Y-o-Y upward movement by 12%. However, sectors like Construction registered a downward hiring trend in the same time period.

Functional Area Analysis:
The demand for professionals in IT and Consulting saw a Y-o-Y growth of 31% and 27% respectively in March 2015. The demand for professionals in HR Banking/ Finance and Accounts registered an upward movement by 21% 19% and 9% Y-o-Y. However, professionals working in Packaging and Supply Chain saw a decline in their demand 6% and 20% Y-o-Y respectively.
