Kolkata registers an increase of 3% in hiring in March&rsquo15 over March&rsquo14

  • IT sector recorded a Y-o-Y growth of 31% in hiring activity in March&rsquo15 0ver March&rsquo14
  • The Insurance sector saw a significant decline of 18% in hiring activityin March&rsquo15 over March&rsquo14
  • Professionals working in Supply Chain sector saw a 20%Y-o-Ydecline in their hiring

Kolkata, April XX, 2015:
The Naukri Job Speak Index for Kolkata, for the month of March&rsquo15 in comparison to March&rsquo14 was at 1632 indicating a 3% increase in hiring activity. The sectors which recorded maximum increase were Banking and Finance Services (BFSI) and Accounting and Finance at 129% and 43% Y-o-Ygrowth in March 2015.

Industry Sector Analysis:
An in-depth analysis of the city revealed that the IT sector saw aY-o-Y increase of 29% in hiring over the year. Oil & Gas and Telecom also saw hiring going upwards by 12% and 8% respectively over the year.

However, Construction & Engineering and Auto saw a Y-o-Y dip of 6% and 11% respectively in hiring activity in March 2015 as compared with March 2014.

Functional Area Analysis:
The job index spelt good news for ITprofessionals with the sector continuing to hireexperienced talent. The demand for professionals in the sector saw an increase of 31% in the month of March&rsquo15 over March&rsquo14. Sectors like HR and Bankingalso continued to hire at a decent pace and showed a 21% and 19% Y-o-Y rise in hiring respectively over the year. However, hiring of Supply Chain/ Logistics professionals saw a downward trend with the index moving down by 20% in the same period over March&rsquo14.
