Hiring activity in Chennai upsurges by 6% in March 2015over March 2014:Naukri Job Speak Index

  • IT, Accounting and Finance sectors have shown remarkable growth in hiring activity in March 2015 as compared with March 2014
  • Auto, Insurance and Construction and Engineering have registered decline in hiring activity in March 2015

 

Chennai, April XX, 2015:
The Naukri Job Speak index for Chennai in March&rsquo15 was at 1354, indicating a 6% increase in the hiring activity. Among the key sectors in the city, Auto showed an11%Y-o-Ydepreciationin the hiring activity whereas Telecom registered an8%Y-o-Y growth in the same period.

Industry Sector Analysis: Accounting and ITsectors saw a significant increase of 43% and 29% respectively in hiring activities in March&rsquo15 over March&rsquo14. Other sectors like Telecom, Oil and gas saw 8% and 12%Y-o-Y increase respectively, in their hiring activity over the same period. However,Construction and Engineering,Auto and Insurance sectorssaw a Y-o-Y dip of 6%,11% and 18% in hiring activity in the same period.

Functional Area Analysis: Hiring of ITES professionals saw the maximum increase of 6%Y-o-Y rise in their Job index value in March&rsquo15 over March&rsquo14. Consulting and HR saw 27% and 21% more hiring this year in comparison to last year. There was a 19% Y-o-Y increase in the hiring of banking professionals in March&rsquo15 over March&rsquo14.
