Pune saw a 26% increase in hiring in February &rsquo15 over February&rsquo14: Naukri Job Speak Index

  • BPO sector saw an increase of 5% in hiring in Feb&rsquo15.
  • IT sector saw a significant increase of 23% in hiring in the same period

Pune, February 2015
The Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of February 2015 for Pune was at 1995 indicating a 26% increase in the hiring activity in comparison to February 2014. Sectors like Construction and Engineering and Insurance saw a decline of 4% and 20% respectively in their hiring activity over the same period. However, sectors like Banking and Financial Services remained steady and showed robust hiring with the index going up by 77% in the same period.

Industry Sector Analysis:
A detailed analysis revealed that apart from Insurance, Auto and Construction and Engineering, most key sectors like IT and BPO and ITEs saw an increase in their hiring with the index moving up by 23% and 5% respectively in Feb&rsquo15 over Feb 14&rdquo. However, Insurance and Auto sectors experienced a dip with the index going down by 20% and 9% respectively in the same period. But, Banking and Financial services sector saw an exceptional spike of 77% in their index in Feb &rsquo15 in comparison to Feb&rsquo14. 

Functional Area Analysis:
The demand for professionals working in IT- Software saw an increase of 32% in Feb 15&rsquo over Feb 14'. But professionals employed in Project Management and Production and Maintenance witnessed a marginal dip of 7% and 6% in hiring in the same period. Even employment opportunities for Engineering Design - R&D professionals saw a decline of 11% in this time period.
