India Inc. Hiring Activitydisplays stabilityin May 2015 over May 2014, says Naukri JobSpeak

  • BFSI sector continued to remain at the top of charts and recorded the maximum year on year growth in hiring activity across industries, to the tune of 53%, as per the Naukri Job Speak May&rsquo15 index
  • Delhi-NCR recorded the maximum increase in hiring activity and stood at a Y-o-Y growth of 12%
  • The demand for professionals in Banking/Insurance sector grew by 22% Y-o-Y in the May&rsquo15 index

 

New Delhi, June 10, 2015:
The Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of May 2015 stood at 1664recording a 2% dip in hiring activity overMay 2014. While the hiring sentiment in the BFSI industry continued its upward trend as mentioned above, Oil and Gas, Auto and Pharma industrieswitnessed a year on year decline in hiring activityin the May&rsquo15 index. The Media and entertainment sector witnessed a growth of 9% in hiring activity in May&rsquo15 over May&rsquo14. Among the metros, Delhi recorded the maximum Y-o-Y growth in the May&rsquo15 indexfollowed by Bangalore.

Industry wise Analysis:

Apart from the BFSI industry, which led the pack in terms of Y-o-Y growth in hiring activity,

  • Accounting/Finance industryreported a Y-o-Y growth of 21% in the May&rsquo15 index
  • The IT- Hardware and Software industries witnessed a Y-o-Y growth in hiring activity to the tunes of 3% and 2% respectively in the May 2015 over May 2014
  • The Healthcare industry registered a Y-o-Y growth of 3% in May 2015 over May 2014
  • Pharma recorded a Y-o-Y decrease of 9% in hiring activity in the May&rsquo15 index
  • Core sectors like Oil and Gas, Auto, Insurance and Real estate witnessed a decline in hiring activity to the tunes of 8% and 21% respectively in May&rsquo15 over May&rsquo14

City Wise Analysis:

As mentioned above, Delhitooka lead in hiring activityin the May&rsquo15 index

  • Bangalore witnessed a growth in hiring activity to the tune of 5% in May 2015 over May 2014
  • The hiring activity in Mumbai and Puneremained stableaccording to the May&rsquo15 index
  • In contrast, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkataregistered Y-o-Y decrease of 4%, 5% and 8% in hiring activity inthe May&rsquo15 index

 

Functional Area Analysis:

As mentioned above banking and Insurance sector saw the maximum increase in the demand in the May&rsquo15 index. Following that

  • Demand for professionals in Pharma and IT-Software also recorded a Y-o-Y growth of 7% and 3% in May&rsquo15 index
  • The demand for professionals in Consulting and Marketing also witnessed a Y-o-Y growth to the tunes of 8% and 5% respectively in May&rsquo15 over May&rsquo14
  • The demand for professionals in Top Management declined by 7% Y-o-Y in May&rsquo15
  • IT- Hardware / Telecom and ITES professionals alsosaw a Y-o-Y decline of 9% and 14% respectively in their demand in the May&rsquo15 index
