Kolkata saw a dip of 8% in hiring in May &rsquo15 over May&rsquo14

  • The core sector of the city, Textiles / Garments saw a dip of 2% in May 2015 index
  • BFSI remains at the top with maximum growth of 53% in May 2015 over May 2014

 

Kolkata, June 8, 2015:
The Naukri Job Speak Index for Kolkata, for the month of May &rsquo15 when compared to May &rsquo14 was at 1260 indicating an 8% decrease in the hiring activity. Among the key sectors in the city, Textile / Garments saw a decrease of 2% in the May&rsquo15 index.
Industry Sector Analysis:
Besides BFSI and Accounting / Finance industries which led the growth charts with 53% and 21% growth respectively. The IT- Hardware and Software industries also witnessed a Y-o-Y growth of 3% and 2% respectively in the May 2015 index. On the other hand, sectors like Oil and Gas, Auto, Insurance and Real estate witnessed depreciation in May 2015 over May 2014
Functional Area Analysis:
The demand for professionals in Banking & Insurance saw a Y-o-Y growth of 22% in May&rsquo15 over May&rsquo14. At the same time, Pharma and IT-Software also recorded growth of 7% and 3% in May&rsquo15 index. On the other hand, the demand for professionals working in IT- Hardware / Telecom and ITES saw a Y-o-Y decline of 9% and 14% respectively in the May&rsquo15 index.
